Unsecured Loans

You can apply for an unsecured loan of between £100 and £4,000, all online. Tell us how much you want to borrow and how long you'd like to repay it, and we'll take it from there. You'll need to be a UK resident aged 18 or over.

No security, no guarantor, no paperwork

Our unsecured loans are our most popular. There's nothing to secure against your home or car, and you don't need anyone to guarantee the loan for you.

All you do is tell us how much you'd like and over how long. We'll come back with what you can borrow and the repayments, and we'll try to get you as close to your target as we can. If the offer doesn't suit you, you can walk away. You're under no obligation to take it.

There's nothing to print, sign, scan or post, and checking what you could borrow won't affect your credit score.

What is an unsecured loan?

Broadly, loans come in two kinds: secured and unsecured.

Secured means you put up something of value, usually your home, that can be sold to cover the debt if you don't repay. Unsecured means you don't. There's no asset backing the loan, so if it isn't repaid the lender has no property to fall back on.

That's more risk for the lender, so unsecured lending tends to work differently:

  • Interest rates are usually higher than on secured loans
  • It can be harder to be approved, and more applications are declined
  • The amounts on offer are often smaller
  • The process is usually quicker, since there's no property to value

Benefits

The application takes less than five minutes, with no complicated questions

It's yours to spend as you need. We ask what the money's for on the form so we can check the loan's affordable for you, but if your plans change later, you're not in breach of anything

Your home and car aren't at risk the way they'd be with a secured loan

Things to think about

Unsecured credit is easy to apply for, and that's part of the risk. The easier borrowing is, the easier it is to take on more than you meant to, and several commitments at once can quietly add up to trouble. Missing payments has real consequences too: it can affect your credit file and lead to collection or court action, even though there's no specific asset to lose.

So borrow only what you need, and only what you're confident you can repay.

What you can use it for

An unsecured loan is yours to spend as you see fit. Some of the more common reasons people apply:

  • Home improvements - a new kitchen or bathroom, or work that's been waiting
  • A car - whether you're buying outright or covering repairs
  • Consolidating debt - bringing existing balances into one monthly payment
  • A one-off cost - a wedding, a holiday, or something unexpected

We ask what the money's for when you apply, but only so we can check the loan's affordable for you. If your plans change once the money's yours, that's fine.

Can I apply with bad credit?

You can apply whatever your credit history. Every application is assessed on its own merits, and your credit record is one part of that rather than the whole picture. We can't promise an offer, but a poor score doesn't automatically rule you out.

How quickly will I get the money?

Once your loan's approved and the agreement is signed, funds are usually sent the same day. How soon they land depends on your bank.

Will applying affect my credit score?

Checking what you could borrow won't affect your score. A full application, if you go ahead, involves a further check that may be recorded.

Can I repay early?

Yes. You can repay early with no penalty, and it can save you money in interest.

How much can I borrow?

Between £100 and £4,000. What you're offered depends on your circumstances and what you can comfortably afford to repay. Check online how much you can borrow.
